HR Rommet

The HR Room—Hilmar Reksten’s former office—is a hidden gem. This beautiful room is situated in what was once the formal reception area of ​​his private residence. Today, it is part of the Rasmussen Collections and serves as an intimate museum space, offering a rare glimpse into the life of the legendary Bergen native, shipowner, and art collector.

The room retains its original style and the atmosphere of an era when major strategic decisions were made, global shipping routes were charted, and historic business deals were struck. Elegant furnishings, unique artworks, a grand piano, and an extensive library of books on art and business lend the room a warm, tranquil, and elegant feel.

You will find the HR Room on the ground floor, right next to the main entrance.

The buildings that now house the Rasmussen Collections were originally constructed as an extension to Reksten’s 1935 villa (the stately grey house located right next door, to the right of the collections).

Spanning 1,400 square meters, these premises were built for formal entertaining and receptions—and, crucially, to house and showcase Reksten’s extraordinary and extensive art collection.

The current owner uses the space as an art gallery and as a venue for private and corporate events, hosting everything from meetings and business dinners to anniversaries, christenings, confirmations, weddings, and memorial gatherings.
