At the Rasmussen Collections, you\u2019ll discover one of Northern Europe\u2019s largest and finest collections of Persian carpets. These handwoven masterpieces come from Persia, modern-day Iran, and span centuries of artistry from the 15th through the 17th centuries.<\/p>

The carpets were crafted in famous weaving cities like Kashan, Yazd, Esfahan, and Tabriz, each piece reflecting the skill, precision, and imagination of generations of artisans. They are not just rugs \u2013 they are timeless works of art, treasured for their rarity and beauty.<\/span><\/p>

The golden age of Persian weaving began under Shah Abbas I, who reigned from 1588. Medallion carpets, floral designs with spiralling tendrils and palmette flowers, and finely knotted pieces became celebrated for their elegance and precision. Many of these exceptional works are on display here for you to explore.<\/span><\/p>

Each carpet tells a story through thousands of hand-tied knots, often in silk or fine wool, sometimes shimmering with gold or silver threads.
