Per Kleiva

Art Exhibition – Rasmussen Collections

About the event

We are opening a new exhibition on March 16, 2025, featuring several works by Per Kleiva from our own collection. The exhibition includes paintings, graphics, and prints.

The collection also features:
Persian carpets, the Silver Collection, David Hockney, Jiménez Deredia, Arvid Pettersen, Andreas Dolk, Zhuang Hong-yi, Pablo Picasso, Inger Sitter, Carlo Trost, James McQueen, Manolo Valdés, Bob Dylan, Salvador Dalí, Fred Allard, Ørnulf Opdahl, Audun Hetland, Per Ung – and much more.

Per Kleiva (1933–2017) was known for expressing his strong social and political engagement through art. He worked in painting, graphics, sculpture, and installation art, with pieces often marked by simple yet powerful compositions and a visual language that made complex messages easily accessible.

He was a member of the Norwegian artist group GRAS, which in the 1970s became known for its radical art practices. During this time, Per Kleiva gained particular recognition for his graphic works with clear anti-war messages, inspired by the Vietnam War and the social unrest of the era. He mastered the use of color and symbolism to comment on both international and national events.

Per Kleiva held numerous solo exhibitions in Norway and abroad, and his works remain an important part of Norwegian art history, challenging boundaries and giving a voice to those not always heard.
