Exhibition 2026
New exhibition from Saturday, 31 January:
This season, two prominent Norwegian artists take center stage:
Kjell Nupen and Audun Hetland.
Kjell Nupen – colors, symbols, and inner landscapes:
Kjell Nupen (1955–2014) is regarded as one of Norway’s most significant contemporary artists. His work spans from socially critical pieces of the 1970s to poetic, color-driven expressions featuring landscapes, jar motifs, and archaic symbols. Nupen’s images are often simply composed, with geometric forms and rich colors, while conveying an enigmatic and meditative atmosphere.
Alongside painting, Nupen also worked with printmaking and large-scale public commissions, both nationally and internationally. This exhibition presents a selection of paintings and graphic works, with selected prints available for purchase. Audun Hetland – sharp lines and playful eroticism:
Audun Hetland (1920–1998) is known for his sharp line, satirical gaze, and uncompromising humor.
His erotic works explore human relationships, desire, and the body, balancing the playful, the humorous, and the provocative. Hetland’s art is never mere provocation; it reflects fantasies, frustrations, and longings, seen through an artist’s uncompromising eye.
The collection also includes a wide range of art and objects by internationally recognized artists such as Per Kleiva, William Kentridge, Kiko, Mario Matera, Andreas Dolk, Zhuang Hong-yi, Pablo Picasso, Pushwagner, Guttestreker, Anders Leonard Zorn, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and Bruno Andreas Liljefors.
